Christmas Countdown Wreath

For the last weeks of school, we are doing a Christmas Countdown. Teachers made four options for us, in each option, there are three different levels. We have to try to get all of the activities done. One of the activities was to design a Christmas Wreath. There were three levels in the activity. I did the one were you can try and make our own.

We have to try to get all of the activities done. One of the activities was to design some wrapping paper. The three levels in it were a Santa level, Elf level and then a Kiwiana theme. Whetu Survivor Fire

This week we are celebrating our Whetu Survivor. In the first block, we did three activities. Orienteering, Fire, and Cooking. For the fire, you had to get into your groups. There were two things that you got to do. One of them was setting up a fire and the other one was having a go at trying to make a spark out of flint and steel. My group went to flint and steel. I got the flint and steel to spark lots of times. When everyone had their turn in my group, we went to set up a fire. We had to wait for the other group to finish their's and then we had our turn. When every group had finished what they were doing we tried to start a fire but it didn't work because the wind was too strong.

Whetu Survivor Orienteering

This week we are celebrating our Whetu Survivor. In the first block, we did three activities. Orienteering, Fire, and Cooking. For the Orienteering, we got a map and piece off paper to write our letters on that we wore looking for. The map we got was a map of the school. On the map there wore orange markers that we had to work out where they were and then look around them for a letter. When we found all the letters we read a joke and work out what the joke was by unscrambling the letters. The joke was "What do bears call campers in their sleeping bags." When you unscramble the words you get the word Burritos. We did these activities in homerooms.

Term 4 Fabulous Finish

This is my Term 4 Fabulous Finish that I did. I did Coach Brody. In the background, I did his name and two taxis. I did the taxis because Coach is also a taxi driver. I did Coach Brody's name in the background but I only did Coach because I didn't have enough room to fit it in. For the sky, I tried to blend the two blues and the same with the grass. On Coach, I made his hands flap and drew a medal because he won a medal but his Dad took it from him. On his hat, I wrote what his dream was to be. His dream was to run in the Olympics. With the clipboard that he is holding, I made it flap and under it, I wrote what street he grew up on. The hardest part was drawing coach and coloring him. I made one mistake with him but you can't really see it because it is small. I drew hair on him but I wasn't meant to because he has no hair except for his eyebrows. The easiest was drawing Coach's name.

Knot number 3 Reef Knot

For the past weeks, we have been doing a Whetu survival challenge. This week the Knowledge Seekers have been learning how to tye different knots. We have also been mastering them and then knowing what they're really good for. I did the Reef knot. A Reef knot is used to secure a sling in first aid because it sits flat and easy to adjust and unite. When double slipped, it is the knot that most of us use to tie shoe lacers. I rate this a 2/5 because it gets really easy when you get it.
